Texas Holdem: Flushes and Flush Draws Using Three Board Cards
|
A Flush Using Three Board Cards Any flush using your two pocket cards is a strong hand. For example,
The strength of this hand is weakened if there is one board pair because you can be beaten by a fullhouse or four of a kind. For example,
This hand's strength is almost completely undermined when there are two board pairs. Because a fullhouse is almost certain to occur. For example,
Any jack or queen now beats you...and if you were betting and being called or raised at the turn...the writing is on the wall. |
Using three board cards and two pocket cards to make a flush... You generally shouldn't be too concerned if you don't have the ace-high (nut) flush. It is very unlikely somebody is using the remaining cards of that suit to make a higher flush. That said, don't get into
a raising war with a player who knows how to play poker! That
player will assume you have a flush, and will only re-raise if he/she
is certain his/her hand is better. |
